Welcome to 2026 Dirt Girls! Dirt Girls is a volunteer-led community group affiliated with CMBC Yukon. Our aim is to foster safe and inclusive mountain bike rides each week throughout the summer.

The Dirt Girls coordinators this year are Carolyn Blasetti, Julia Heiroth, Mariah Witham and Shelby Maunder. Please reach out to any of these folks with questions/concerns throughout the year.

Huge thank you to Medicine Chest Pharmacy for sponsoring Dirt Girls and CMBC for their support!

HOW IT WORKS

All riders need a 2026 Contagious Mountain Biking Club membership to participate. It’s pretty cheap and easy to get at Become a member. Remember to bring your membership number with you to every ride, you’ll need it for the rider sign up sheet! The CCN receipt will usually go to your inbox but your actual number confirmation often goes to junk/spam. Please check these folders after registering and email [email protected] if you don’t see it. Also, some meet up areas don’t have great service – try to save your number in an offline app.

Dirt Girls welcomes all riders who identify as women, trans or non-binary. We do not police gender and want to promote inclusion in mountain biking. If a female empowered space feels meaningful to you, you are welcome here.

All skill levels are welcome.

The beginner group is for riders who are very new to riding on trails/mountain biking. The routes will focus on keeping to wider, green trails at the beginning of the season and progress to some single track in August as the group feels comfortable. The priority will be shorter loops in simple terrain and often this group will ride the same trail two weeks in a row to build confidence. Please arrive on time so that you have enough time to sign in, do a bike safety check and get a trail briefing.

Intermediate/advanced riders will be expected to have confidence riding easy/green trails. The trails chosen for these rides will all be single track (narrow) with technical features (roots/rocks/bridges/bermed corners). You will always be able to ride around or walk any section you are not comfortable with. These rides will then be subdivided into 3 groups:

      • Intermediate 1 – Those developing their mountain biking skills and anyone looking for a shorter ride/a slower pace.

      • Intermediate 2 – Riders who are confident on moderately technical trails and are ready for a quicker pace or a slightly longer route.

      • Advanced – Riders who like to go fast and/or those looking to ride more challenging terrain. This group will often cover the longest distance and do the most climbing.

Rides leaders are all volunteers and have a range of skills and experience. Although they are often excited to share their expertise they are not expected to provide any coaching, bike maintenance or first aid help. If any issues arise we will always stop and assist each other as a group and a coordinator will be in the area until the end of the ride for safety. Please come to rides expecting to be self-sufficient on your ride – water, snacks, warm/rain jacket, bear spray and simple tools (tube/tire levers/pump/allen key set) are all recommended. No other special equipment is necessary, and any type of mountain bike in good working order will work for Dirt Girls. Helmets are mandatory and must be worn at all times.

Fingers crossed for a season of blue skies and sunny trails.

SPECIFIC TRAIL ROUTES AND MEETING SPOTS

Ride routes and meeting spot details will be posted to the Dirt Girls Facebook Group and on our CMBC website calendar.

Starting this year we will have a different meet up time and location for beginners.

Beginner riders will meet at 6:15 pm so that we can be riding by 6:30 pm.

Intermediate/advanced riders will meet at 6:40 pm so that we can be riding by 7:00 pm.

  • Please arrive early to sign in and so we can get divided into ride groups.
  • We generally ride light rain or shine but leaders will make a call to cancel the ride if conditions are looking unsafe (i.e. a thunderstorm). Cancellation posts will be up by 3 p.m. on the day of the ride.

NOTES

  • All riders must be 18 years of age to join a Dirt Girls group ride.
  • Dirt Dogs – Although we love riding with our four legged pals we do ask that pups stay home.
  • We are always looking for riders who would like to be LEADERS. If you are confident navigating the trails, and have a favourite loop you’d like to share, please email us or respond to our recruitment calls on the Dirt Girls Facebook Group.
  • Reminder: If you want to group ride with the club you need to be a CMBC Member. PLEASE bring your membership number to each ride!
