Skagway Cyclocross Race

A message from Alaska!

Hello Whitehorse Cyclists!

We’ve made a few changes to the Skagway/Dyea Cyclocross race and are ready to give the  new format a try.  This year, we are starting in Skagway with a steep 4×4 road climb right off the bat followed by 4-5 miles of dirt road out to Dyea.  Once out in Dyea, the course is pretty much the same as last year.  Total racing time will probably be 60-90 minutes.

We will start in Skagway at 5pm (AK time) next Saturday, Sept. 24th.  We will have some vans/trailers available to shuttle riders back to Skagway after the racing.

Please feel free to forward this on to anyone you think might be interested.  We’d be happy to have anyone and everyone involved.  More info can be found: http://dyeacxrace.blogspot.com/

Thanks!

Bike Biathlon this Monday!

This is just a reminder about the Mountain Bike Biathlon Invitational this coming Monday evening. This is the information we have from Biathlon Yukon:

For newcomers, range orientation and rifle practice starts at 5:45 pm, and is required if you do not have previous experience. For those who’ve been out before, registration is at 6:30. The race itself starts at 7:30 pm, and consists of three 2-km loops on your bike and two 5-target shootings. (Depending on interest, they may add another loop and shooting.) Each missed shot results in an additional short penalty lap.

Pre-registration is required: e-mail oliver.maryjane@gmail. com. Cost is $5 and includes everything you need for shooting, plus a post-race hot dog roast.

The event is super fun! We hope to see you there.
