It’s spring time in Whitehorse which means our mountain bike trails are emerging from the snow. It also means that the trails need a bit of love to freshen them up for the 2013 season. We’re looking for a few good riders who will adopt their favourite trail this spring. We need you to be the eyes and ears out there for the city crew so that they can continue doing such a great job of building and maintaining our trail network.
Participating is easy and it’s a great way to contribute to the trails you ride. After all, building trail comes with stewardship responsibility. Contact Paul over at the club’s facebook page and let him know what trail you can adopt. When you ride, take a pair of garden snippers and a folding saw with you, and simply do the following:
* Clear any deadfall or blowdown that is blocking the trail
* Place any cleared deadfall to the side of the trail and, where applicable, place to block off any “ride around” routes that may have formed
* Trim back any vegetation that is encroaching on the trail corridor
* Make note of any significant drainage or erosion issues and their location
* Pack out any litter
* Check for any missing or damaged signage
* Report back to CMBC’s Trail Director on what you find/did on your chosen trail
