SNOW GIRLS SEASON WRAP-UP
You win some you lose some! Fat biking in Whitehorse was challenged to say the least this season, and Snow Girls were no exception. With twelve rides planned we were only able to complete five. However, every ride was met with the usual Snow Girls enthusiasm and we ended the season with an epic bluebird day riding Bonneville Lakes. Huge thank you to our Snow Girls organizers, ride leaders and of course our committed group of riders. Thank you to Medicine Chest for their continued support.
And while the snow is slowly melting off the trails planning for the upcoming Dirt Girls is underway. Stay tuned to the website and FB for the ride schedule. If you are interested in leading a ride please send us a message! We are looking forward to seeing everyone on the trails!

THANK YOU GROOMERS!
The Winter of 2025/2026 was something else! If it wasn’t absolutely frigid outside it was dumping snowing, but most often it was doing both. This extreme weather made it exceptionally challenging for our volunteers to stay on top of Winter Trail Maintenance. Despite these challenges, our team of 12 groomers put in hundred of hours of collective volunteer time to ensure that Fatbiking in Whitehorse remained possible.
Between the trail networks at Mount Mac, in Copper Ridge/Hillcrest, Crestview, and on Grey Mountain, roughly 50km of groomed trails were maintained for non-motorized use. We are immensely grateful to all those who dedicated time and energy to winter trail maintenance. This extends beyond our team of dedicated groomers to CMBC members, the Klondike Snowmobile Association, and other folks snowshoeing, shoveling, and sharing trail reports with each other. It truly takes a community to do this work and we appreciate you all! While we’re excited to see the snow melting and summer riding becoming more than just a dream, we look forward to next winter and what we can collectively accomplish!

SPRING TRAIL CONDITIONS
Now that spring is in the air the start of mountain bike season and trail riding is quickly approaching! We’ve seen the stoked faces at both our local Bike Shops and overheard conversations around when people think the season might start. While we are hopeful it will be sooner than rather than later, it’s likely that we are still about two weeks out from some of those early season trails being fit for riding. It was a long, cold, snowy winter and there is still a lot of snow on most unpaved trail surfaces, in the trees, and certainly higher up on the mountains.
This is our annual spring reminder that patience is a virtue when it comes to early season trail riding. Our local soil, especially in areas around Grey Mountain, The Yukon River Trail, and Hospital Ridge, is very sensitive during the first few weeks of spring. Riding this time of year can often create ruts, trail braiding, and leaves damage that is very difficult for volunteers to fix. It also impacts the trail use experience for everyone in a negative way.
Please be patient and wait another week or two before venturing out on the trails. When you do head out, be sure to hop off your bike and walk around any zones that have standing water or look muddy. This is most common in shaded areas or spots with poor drainage. Your commitment to these ethics makes a huge difference and promotes a culture where we can ensure a great time for everyone all summer long! Please stay tuned to our facebook page and check Trailforks for the most up top date information on trail conditions.

STRATEGIC PLANNING
Last weekend, the CMBC board of directors worked with Eddyline to update CMBC’s vision and inform planning priorities for the next few years. We had a great, and intense weekend working on the big and small questions to key in on CMBC’s role and the needs of the community. The membership survey is part of the strategic planning (although you don’t have to be a member to participate!). We are grateful for the funding provided by the Community Development Fund for this project.
In the coming months, we will release our new strategic plan and look forward to moving it forward with you!

TRAIL DAYS COMING SOON
We’re trying a different approach to trail days this year – every other Sunday from 9am-3pm we’ll lead a trail day on a different portion of trail in Whitehorse. Come all day or just for a couple of hours – whatever fits your schedule. We’ll have snacks, tools and refreshments – just remember to bring gloves, appropriate footwear, and elbow grease!
The first trail day will be on Sunday June 8th. Check the website for more details closer to the date.
